TEXT: Galatians. 4:4-9
4 But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law,
5 To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons.
6 And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father.
7 Wherefore thou art no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.
8 Howbeit then, when ye knew not God, ye did service unto them which by nature are no gods.
9 But now, after that ye have known God, or rather are known of God, how turn ye again to the weak and beggarly elements, whereunto ye desire again to be in bondage?
His Spirit causes us to say "Abba Father." a word used in Hebrew, Aramaic, etc, that word is predominantly the same in the languages, that the scriptures originate from. "Abba Father" is always the same,.. not in need of a special translation for the different languages, as they all say the same. The Father of many, Abba a Aramaic, word, as well as in the others. Abba and Father are interestingly enough when studied, two different versions of "the Father word." One,.. the declaration of respect, the other,.. more of the adjective describing a true intimacy of in,..that Father relationship.
Mark 14:36 Jesus said "Abba Father"
Romans 8:15
Also another form of "the word" means an adjective to Father,.. which is a noun. Different in its expansive value. Both surfacely means Father. "Abba Father." Not Father,.. Father. But as in God in heaven. Father to his people, more than "my" Father. "Abba", is more intimately familiar. God made possible in birth redemption, as He makes possible all our spiritual life,.. and well being. Just as "Jesus" has a special meaning for us,.. so also, Abba Father has a special meaning for us. Consider that meaning this morning.
II Samuel 7:14-15 God promises to be our father. Yet,.. if we commit sin, we will be left to the mercy of men. Society tends to claim to be God's child, although here, there seems to be an "if" factor. If we commit to obedience, we can call Him "Father." If sin is found,.. we are turned over . Jesus did not die for us to remain in our sins! His mercy is extended to His will for us. Not to one that refuses God's mercy from sins. God has made a way to call Him "Abba Father."
Isaiah 9:6 Our Everlasting Father. He redeemed us and put us on His higway, removed from sin. So we can say we "know" the Father.
Isaiah 63:16 Do you know "Abba Father?"
Proverbs 18:24 Abba Father is intimate,.. as a friend.
II Samuel 7:14 How can one stick closer than a brother? A Father is closer than your closest relations. One that would die for you,.. and take your sins away, is closer than one who would die for you without being able to take away your sins. .
To get to the event I am hosting, I need a ticket through the sacrifice of His Son, Jesus. Saying you believe is.. not enough! You must be surrendered, forsaking all sin, consecrated,.. is the formula. Yet, God desires more than the formula. You must know "Abba" Father, not "just" Father. For an example, 1. I Must have an experience With God., 2. I Must be "folded" into God. , Found in the precious sight of God. Intimate with God.
A requirement that needs to be considered, is the need to have a broken heart, and contrite spirit,..completely surrendered to God,.. to have that intimatcy.
Psalm 34: 18 The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.
Psalm 51:17 The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.
Psalms 27:1-14 A king who desired God in the fullest ,..an intimate Father/Son relationship.
Verse 6. , Sing praises,....not repeated burnt offerings. Justification is acceptance and happiness to be forgiven of committed sins, that are washed away. Yet,.. a deeper experience is necessary, and remains, for the fullness of completetion In Him!! Sanctification is that deeper experience or aquaintance! "Abba" Father!
We see here, Jesus and Paul knew God as... "Abba" Father;
Mark 14:36 And he said, ABBA, Father, all things are possible unto thee; take away this cup from me: nevertheless not what I will, but what thou wilt. (Jesus)
Galatians 4: 6 And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, ABBA, Father. (Paul)
So we see God desires a deeper, more intimate way,....Sacrifices of Joy. God reveals Himself to His consecrated people, a deeper experience. Psalms 27:14 Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD. The waiting here, entails an expectancy from that intimate love,.. already in place. Our cry will be, to help me to know you in the midst of my present trials, including corrections or chastisements.. of need. "Abba Father,...He is our Leader, Counselor, Protector, Teacher, Corrector, Comforter, Guide, etc.
Justification brings us into the fold of God. It is just the beginning! We need to seek further of His graces by "Abba" Father! Sanctification is that which eradicates that original sin nature. So the the battle stays on the outside and not on the inside. We must seek Sanctification of our nature, to access... "Abba" Father! A Selling Out completely!! When we are first sanctified , we do sell out to access this experience. Yet because we are still human, we can accumulate things in our lives that God again would have us to sell off as we go, to keep that intimate "Abba" Father. In essence, we need to have "spiritual periodic yard sales." To keep "nothing between" our Father and Us. Abba" Father. Selling out or Sanctification in our salvation needs an ongoing maintenance, through "Abba" Father.
Philipians 2:12 Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. It is the daily cleansing needing to be done,.. by the word. Ephesians 5:26 That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by THE WORD,
God desires us to go Farther up, ..Farther In! farther From this world, but don't linger,..Move In closer to "Abba" Father,..where God truly reveals Himself! It is this sanctification that is wholly, holy what God desires for us. All conflicts removed from within! Go farther Up, ..farther In! Keeping that selling out, makes God pleased with us, as a heart house "empty of us," ..so He can fill us with His chosen treasures. This should alert us to the need to examine,.. Are we collecting more of our self along the way, than we should?? Again we need to remember to look and see if there is an accumulation of flesh or self to again sell. "Abba" Father,... What do I need to get rid of, that has accumulated? Keep having those yard sales of self. Farther Up,..Farther In!!
He is grantor of the inheritance, the patriarch of the whole living family. God has and is grantor of,.. All we ever need. Conversely society has broken up the family in it's current values and systems. There is no more well understood "roles" for the family, such as the Father as head as in the orignal times,.. as it was meant to be. Today, values are so often upside down from the natural course set. Fathers, and also mothers too, too often abandon their God given responsibilities. Children often do not know what roles should be, and are without direction. Consequently often today society is destructive as a whole. It can too easliy make the concept of "Abba" Father less understood, or available. God will take us up as promised. Psalms 27: 10 When my father and my mother forsake me, then the LORD will take me up. What are you giving as a heritage to your children? God wants to be our Father. We must abandon the modern day "message" of self aspirations and prospeity, and surrender to Father's leadings. The nature of religion is changing or redefining, and working for substitutions, such as in the new age, mytiscism, other paths as part of that "Babylon's cup" Revelations 17:4 And the woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet colour, and decked with gold and precious stones and pearls, having a golden cup in her hand full of abominations and filthiness of her fornication:
This generation, (our ?) generation, is guilty of spiritual "substitutions", side stepping the "taking of stands" for truth. No real "father" role, scarce of family eating together, no collective together family unit, is practiced widely in America. By every indication all around us Society is fully being goverened by a family breakdown, and a selfish generation. The world in esscence, teaches us not to be unified. We need to appreciate "farther Up, and farther In! God has a blessing for His people, as The bible Teacher, "Abba" Father,..The better choice! So it behoves us not stay near the door of the world,.. nor linger at all close. "Leave it all behind," for the need of all for the soul, religion. Not half hearted religions made of all the "cares" of the present day society. Forsake their causes for ,.."Abba" Father!
